GeoTrust Root Certificates
Your SSL certificate was signed using one of GeoTrust’s root certificates. As the name suggests, the root certificate is at the top of the certificate hierarchy. By being a leading provider of SSL certificates, GeoTrust’s root certificates come pre-installed in many software applications and 99% of all web browsers in use today. GeoTrust's root certificates are branded as Equifax.
There may be instances where you need to install one of the GeoTrust root certificates if it is not already installed on your system. The GeoTrust root certificates come is two versions: Base-64 encoded X.509 (PEM text) and DER encoded X.509 (binary). The version you use depends on the application using them. For example Apache/OpenSSL and Windows use Base-64 while Java/Keytool uses binary DER.
