True BusinessID & Wildcard Required Proof-of-Organization DocumentsWhen you request a True BusinessID or Wildcard SSL certificate, GeoTrust will verify the identity of the business entity responsible for the Internet domain name for which the SSL certificate is requested. Before proceeding through the enrollment process, you should know what information you will need to provide to complete the verification process. Please note that required proof-of-organization documentation applies to True BusinessID SSL and Wildcard SSL only. You do not need to provide documentation for QuickSSL nor QuickSSL Premium. Acceptable documents include at least ONE of the following:
Note: All documents must be provided in English or with an English translation. If you represent a Government Department, Non-Government Organization, or a University, there are special instructions. If your domain is registered to you as an individual, rather than a company or organization, you will need to submit a copy of your valid drivers license or valid passport. You must make sure that the following items consistently match in order to have your server certificate order processed:
For example, let's say the legal name of your business is Metro Booksellers LLC. Your domain's WHOIS record should show Metro Booksellers LLC as the registrant of the domain. Additionally, if you have a business license, the business license should be issued to Metro Booksellers LLC. Lastly, when you generate your CSR the Organization field in the CSR should be Metro Booksellers LLC. In addition, GeoTrust may contact your state or local government to confirm that your organization is in "Good Standing". After placing an online order, please fax your Proof-of-Organization docs to (858) 300-5306. Include your domain name and GeoTrust order ID number on the cover letter. If any of the above items do not match or are not submitted, the processing of your certificate request will be delayed. Required Docs FAQQ: Do I have to fax all those items? A: No, just what's relevant to your business or organization's legal entity type. For example, if your business is a corporation you should fax in your registered Articles of Incorporation. Q: What's the fax number? A: please fax your Proof-of-Organization docs to (858) 300-5306. Q: Do I have to have a Dunn & Bradstreet number? A: No, it's not required, but if you have one it can make the vetting process go faster. Q: When should I fax my documentation? A: You should fax your documentation after you have placed an online order and have an order ID. At the end of the online order process you will be presented with very specific instructions on what to fax and where. Q: Do I have to fax my documents again for renewals? A: In most cases no, you don't need to re-fax your documents for renewal orders unless something about your business or organization has changed since the last time you submitted your documents, such as an address or name change. Q: My company has recently been vetted for another True BusinessID certificate, do I have to fax my documents again? A: No. As long as the legal name of the company is exactly the same you don't need to send your docs in again. Q: My WHOIS info has old info, how can I change it? A: In most cases you can update your domain's WHOIS info by logging in to your account at your domain registrar. |
