Install SSL Certificate Apple Power School

Download and copy your certificate files to your server

Download your SSL certificate and support files by clicking on the download link in your fulfillment email or from your GeoCerts SSL Manager account. Download the PKCS#7 formatted version of your certificate.

Rename the file your_domain.p7b to certificate.pem to the .../PowerSchool/System/Security/ folder.

The SSL Certificate is now installed. It is recommended that you maintain a copy (backup) of your private key (keyout.pem) file in a secure location.

Configure SSL Web Settings

The PowerSchool server allows enabling SSL web independently from SSL PowerGrade. This section covers how to configure SSL web and assumes you completed the steps in the section "SSL Certificate."

Start the PowerSchool server.
Log in as the administrator.
Click System Administrator.
Click System Settings.
Click Server Settings.
Select the SSL checkbox for the web server in the Web Server Settings section.
Click Submit. The PowerSchool server will reset. If the SSL Certificate file, private key file, and SSL private key password are correct, the PowerSchool server will now only use SSL for web server communication.

Note: It is not necessary to modify the port number. SSL web will use only port 80 to redirect hits to an SSL connection and port 443 for SSL connections. Leave the remaining settings the same.

Verify Installation

Test your SSL certificate by using a browser to connect to your server. Use the https protocol directive. For example, if your SSL was issued to secure.mysite.com, enter https://secure.mysite.com into your browser.

Your browser's padlock icon Browser padlock will be displayed in the locked position if your certificate is installed correctly and the server is properly configured for SSL.
